Well, we are home from our little getaway. S and I spent FIVE nights in the Big Apple, and it was great. Of course we could not have done so without our parents keeping the boys. Each set took a few days and hopefully didn't get too worn out! Poor E got sick while we were gone, and you always hate that for him and those caring for him. But the boys hardly missed us. E wouldn't talk to us on the phone much at all and wasn't all that thrilled to see us when we got home! I'm taking that to mean he loves his grandparents so much he didn't want to leave them!
As for NYC, it was wonderful. We did a lot, but it was relaxing at the same time. Of course I don't have my pictures off my camera yet, but will post some soon. There is so much to do, of course, and this time we did a few different things than we have before. We stayed on Times Square, which was incredibly convenient to everything. We walked to Central Park and rented bikes one day. We rode the entire park! Of course we picked the hottest day to do that, but it was fun nonetheless. We had been to the park before, but just one edge. That place is huge and is just a cool place to hang out! We also got to take a boat ride tour of the bridges. S was there for the NYC Bridge Conference, so that was really "work!" It was pretty cool to see the city from that perspective.
We took in two shows while we were there. "The Drowsy Chaperone" and "Mary Poppins." Both were incredible. We got to go backstage at "The Drowsy Chaperone" with Joanne Worley (thanks to Dana!!), and that was a neat experience. She was so incredibly nice and showed us everything and introduced us to everyone we passed! I think we were most impressed with the wig room--the stylists were sitting around working on the wigs getting them ready for the next show! We sat on the first row of the mezzanine--excellent seats!
We were on the third row of the mezzanine for "Mary Poppins" and that is the most incredible show I have seen. It was just wonderful! At the end Mary "flys" up to the top of the theater, she was mere feet from us! She gave us a wink:)! It was just an amazing show--the choreography was so impressive, especially to the Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious song. We got tickets for less than half price to both shows, which made them even better!!
Our other brush with the famous came outside The Late Show theater. On our way to Central Park we passed the theater and went inside the Hello Deli. When we came out, Rupert was standing on the sidewalk talking to some folks. We got our picture with him--he was very accommodating! Tuesday night we got to see Letterman. That was a cool experience. It was the night he had Kevin Bacon on, you may have seen us as they panned the audience if you were watching!:) Well, you would probably have to slow it down and really look hard, but we were there!! We had great seats to that too, five rows back right in front of Dave! That is total luck of the draw as the tickets are free and they seat you randomly!
Oh, and I did make a trip to Chinatown. Check out my new purses next time you see me! I was quite the negotiator too--which is SO unlike me. But it was all fun!
So, that is our wonderful trip in a nutshell. I think we have some great pics to share. Oh, of course we ate some incredible food too. A few places you may have heard of that we ate--Grimaldi's Pizza, under the Brooklyn Bridge. We walked across it and ate some great pizza. We also ate at Carnegie Deli--the most meat on a sandwich I have EVER seen. And of course we had dessert at Juniors! Our hotel was across the street from M&M World, so I had a few of those as well!:)
It is always good to get away with your spouse! We both missed the boys though, and are glad to be home. Back to the routine now...
