This was E's first year to play baseball. I was quite excited about it, as was he. We didn't know anyone on the team, but he landed on a great one. He had great coaches who taught the fundamentals, had expectations of the players, but were understanding as well.
Practices started out great, E had a great time and was excited to go. Unfortunately, when the first game came around, things went south. If you were around me during that time, you heard about it, so I won't bore you with the details here. Suffice it to say, once we learned WHY he wouldn't run--or sometimes even attempt to bat--things turned around amazingly!!!
Oh, that reason...he didn't know where second base was. So, we figured that out and had a great rest of the season.
He started out in left field, but ended up playing many games as "catcher man" as he tells it. He actually did a great job as catcher. It kept him in the game and he really enjoyed it. Here are a few pictures of our time on the field.
The coach pitches four to them, and if they don't hit one, they go to the tee. E hit several of the balls pitched to him!
This was the excitement in left field! We couldn't really blame him--it was kinda boring most of the time!!

Moving to catcher man!

S was asked to be the dugout "coach" which he agreed to. I think it was not the funnest job, but he was a great encourager to those kids! E thought it was pretty cool that his dad was one of the coaches!
